Jennifer Ramirez is the Scheduler for Homes for Independent Living (HIL), a MyPath Company in the Jefferson region, however this is only one of the many roles Jennifer has had at HIL. She started in 2004 working second shift as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) at the Willow Court CBRF – a program where she still enjoys picking up shifts today. Prior to current role, Jennifer held a Direct Support Supervisor role at four other Jefferson region programs.

Jennifer’s years of experience in multiple roles in a variety of program settings has helped her thrive in her Scheduler role, where she currently creates and fills schedules for all programs in the region. She also coordinates trainings, new hire schedules, as well as attends staff meetings, completes attendance tracking and holiday scheduling, and helps with other tasks whenever she is asked.

Jennifer remarks that her current role has helped develop her multi-tasking skills and she enjoys the opportunity to visit with clients and meet new staff as they begin their careers at HIL. Jennifer is part of HIL’s onboarding and welcomes new staff on their first day. She also develops their training calendars and trains them on the scheduling software. New staff members comment on how helpful she is and appreciate that she is willing to assist them any way that she can.

Jennifer attributes her success at HIL to her mentor Kelly Marquart who was her first Direct Support Supervisor (DSS) at Willow Court. Jennifer says Kelly made her feel comfortable from day one, never making her feel like a question was silly and supporting her when Jennifer was going through different phases in her life. She was willing to lend a listening ear. Kelly continues to be a mentor to Jennifer.

Jennifer is appreciative of the opportunities that HIL has given her. She is quick share details about My Path’s Total Rewards program and that she is an employee-owner! Jennifer encourages other employees to share information about our Paid Time Off (PTO), the benefits being 100% employee-owned and part of an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).

When asked where she sees herself in 10 years Jennifer says, “still at this desk making sure everyone is scheduled where and when they are supposed to be!”

Working at a MyPath Company

Our employees are why MyPath companies work so well for the people we serve. They’re the reason we’re 100% employee-owned and have nine MyPath companies and 150 locations throughout Wisconsin and Indiana. To help take care of the future of our people, employees who are with us for a year, with over 1000 hours of work, begin to receive company-funded MyPath stock shares. After that first year, continued employment with us means continued growth in the number of company shares you receive.

This culture of ownership goes beyond stock. As an employee owner, you can expect transparency, respect and appreciation. If you are called to help others and be part of something bigger, MyPath can help you explore opportunities throughout its many organizations.
