Latina's Story

"My working environment includes everyone, no matter their differences. There is no judgement in this company, everyone is free to be themselves.”

“The clients we serve are the absolute first priority! We take their care seriously. Our relationships that we build with them are based on trust and compassion.”

Latina (Tina) Williams knew she needed a change. After spending 20 years in the day care field, and an entire year in the gym gaining her strength back due to a chronic health condition, she wanted a fresh start. Tina’s neighbor, a MyPath employee, mentioned that Homes for Independent Living (HIL), A MyPath Company was hiring. HIL is a premier provider of community-based support for adults with a wide range of disabilities. Tina knew she wanted to help people and was immediately interested. She interviewed and was hired as a casual Direct Support Professional in February 2021. As soon as she walked into the door at Meadowridge CBRF she knew this was where she wanted to be.

Tina began her My Path journey as a casual employee, which is a position where she was able to request work hours on ad hoc basis. This worked well for Tina as she needed flexibility due to her family’s busy schedule. Tina’s supervisors were impressed with her work ethic and the connection she had with co-workers and clients. So, when a Direct Support Supervisor position became available at Meadowridge in February of 2022 the Regional Director and Client Services Manager knew Tina would be a perfect fit! Tina graciously accepted the position and loves her new role.

Tina is a natural leader and someone the clients and staff can depend on. When asked what her typical day looks like Tina said, “No two days are the same, some are long, while others fly by. What gets me through each day are the relationships I have built with the clients I serve and the staff that help me keep this home running smoothly for our clients. Some of my favorite things about my job, is just talking about the day-to-day things with them, catching up over a board game, a cup of coffee or breakfast and sharing how their day was.”

Tina is proud to serve as a leader to her staff and they work together “like one big family.”

As a My Path employee owner, Tina shares that “my working environment includes everyone, no matter their differences. There is no judgement in this company, everyone is free to be themselves.” Tina also believes that at My Path, “the clients we serve are the absolute first priority! We take their care seriously. Our relationships that we build with them are based on trust and compassion.”

Tina appreciates her supportive and close-knit relationships with her supervisors and knows that if she ever needed anything employment-related or outside of work, she would have a team of support behind her to help her through!

Working at a MyPath Company

Our employees are why MyPath companies work so well for the people we serve. They’re the reason we’re 100% employee-owned and have nine MyPath companies and 150 locations throughout Wisconsin and Indiana. To help take care of the future of our people, employees who are with us for a year, with over 1000 hours of work, begin to receive company-funded MyPath stock shares. After that first year, continued employment with us means continued growth in the number of company shares you receive.

This culture of ownership goes beyond stock. As an employee owner, you can expect transparency, respect and appreciation. If you are called to help others and be part of something bigger, MyPath can help you explore opportunities throughout its many organizations.
