Terry's Story

Over the past twelve years, Terry has dedicated his career to Homes for Independent Living, A MyPath Company. He has served in various roles including both a Direct Support Professional and a Direct Support Supervisor in behavioral and medical homes. Terry expresses a passion for working with behavioral clients and he takes pride in knowing he is making a positive difference in the lives of the clients HIL supports.
When asked about why his work at HIL means so much to him, he replied “My aim is to impact these individuals' lives positively because Homes for Independent Living had a significant influence on my own life. Terry demonstrates a high level of dedication to Homes for Independent Living and is prepared to work wherever there are programs in need and has helped numerous new clients transition from previous providers into their new homes at HIL.
By utilizing his consistent and calm approach to delivering services, Terry has played an integral part in transitioning clients who have resided at HIL’s Crisis Respite locations move into homes of their own throughout the organization. Terry’s Regional Director, Bethany Flaker, had this to say about the work that Terry does “Terry is one of the most patient employees I have come across in 20 years in this field. He celebrates small victories for the clients he supports and has the unique ability to meet each client where they are, no matter what obstacles they are facing for the day. Clients really enjoy when Terry works with them”.
